Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
Location: New York, NY
Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours/week (after breaks)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across a variety of surgical specialties. This role requires strong clinical expertise in both circulating and scrubbing, with the ability to support patients throughout the perioperative process.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Support a wide range of cases including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology, Endoscopy, and GYN
- Deliver care to patients across all age groups (neonate through geriatric)
- Perform both scrub and circulating duties, including emergency situations
- Maintain sterile technique, including opening sterile supplies and transferring to the sterile field
- Accurately label and handle medications, solutions, specimens, and cultures
- Perform and document surgical counts per protocol
- Assist with pre-op and post-op care, addressing physical and psychosocial needs
- Monitor and manage arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, spinal/epidural catheters
- Demonstrate knowledge of anesthetic agents, actions, and side effects
- Safely operate surgical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical team
- Follow all infection control standards, universal precautions, and OR protocols
Schedule & Requirements
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend shifts required as needed (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Holiday coverage required as needed
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience preferred
- Must be able to scrub and circulate
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification required
