Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and medication administration when necessary.
- Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to encourage positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Engage in data collection to monitor progress, document incidents, and track goals related to social work or developmental milestones.
- Provide transportation support by driving clients to appointments, community outings, or recreational activities while ensuring safety at all times.
- Offer caregiving support tailored to each individual’s needs, including childcare for clients with young children or additional support for those with disabilities.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other disabilities in home or community settings.
- Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to perform physical tasks involved in assisting with ADLs and providing caregiving support.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for safe transportation duties.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and data collection methods related to client progress.
