Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and internal records
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly and accurately
- Maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and organizational policies
- Reconcile balance sheets regularly to verify asset, liability, and equity account accuracy
- Support payroll processing activities ensuring timely and correct employee payments
- Prepare financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for management review
- Assist with budgeting activities and provide account analysis to support financial decision-making
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls across all financial procedures
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
Skills
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles with familiarity in public accounting or non-profit accounting environments
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger accounting
- Skilled in account reconciliation techniques including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
- Excellent spreadsheet skills using Excel or other spreadsheet programs for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to interpret financial data accurately while adhering to GAAP standards and organizational policies
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and financial report writing
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial software integrations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
