Cafe Manager — House of Nancy
Location: House of Nancy — Bushwick, Brooklyn
Position: Cafe Manager
Schedule: AM shifts with some swing shifts required. Must be available weekends.
House of Nancy is hiring a Cafe Manager to help lead our daytime cafe program inside a new bar, cafe, and performance venue in Bushwick. We are looking for someone organized, hands-on, hospitality-focused, and comfortable working in a creative, LGBTQ+-affirming environment.
The Cafe Manager will oversee daily cafe operations, support baristas, maintain service standards, manage opening procedures, assist with inventory, and help create a warm and welcoming guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead AM cafe service and support occasional swing shifts
- Manage barista team during service
- Maintain coffee, matcha, tea, smoothie, and cafe drink standards
- Oversee opening checklists, cleanliness, prep, and restocking
- Train staff on recipes, service steps, and guest interaction
- Monitor product quality and consistency
- Assist with ordering, inventory, and vendor communication
- Keep the cafe organized, clean, and service-ready
- Support a welcoming, inclusive, and professional team culture
- Work weekends as part of the regular schedule
Requirements
- Prior cafe, coffee shop, restaurant, or hospitality management experience
- Barista or specialty coffee experience preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable working in a LGBTQ+-affirming nightlife, cafe, and performance venue
- Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and hands-on
- Must be available mornings, weekends, and some swing shifts
- NYC food handler certification is a plus
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, friendly with guests, comfortable leading a small team, and excited to help build a new neighborhood cafe program from the ground up. This role is best for someone who enjoys coffee, hospitality, community, and creative spaces.
Pay: $26.45 - $31.86 per hour
