Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and comprehensive repairs on trailers, including brake systems, suspensions, axles, and electrical components
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive electrical systems diagnostics, and heavy equipment troubleshooting techniques
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify trailer components
- Conduct inspections on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety standards
- Assist with vehicle alignment, air brake systems, hydraulics, shocks & struts, transmissions, and suspension repairs
- Maintain detailed service records and complete repair documentation accurately for each job performed
- Support equipment maintenance tasks including tire service, welding repairs, hydraulic system repairs, and general mechanical system overhauls
Requirements
- Prior dealership experience or background in heavy truck repair is highly preferred
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including diesel engines, HVAC systems, transmissions, and vehicle electrical systems
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators or forklifts is a plus
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems in trailers and industrial equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and basic automotive diagnostics
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; relevant certifications such as ASE or manufacturer-specific training are advantageous
