GENERAL SUMMARY:
To assist the Plant Supervisor with operations, general maintenance and repairs of the water distribution system, sewer system, lift stations, treatment facility and all related equipment.
Additionally, the technician carries out duties as requested or assigned by the Plant Supervisor or General Manager.
- Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, valves and electrical components to regulate flow of raw water into the treatment plant.
- Collects water samples, takes readings and performs water testing.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on all equipment including water valves, lift stations, generators, curb stops and fire hydrants.
- Performs maintenance to water mains, sewer lines, treatment plants.
- Performs utility locates as requested.
- Restoration work to repairs areas and routine grounds maintenance.
- All OCLUD staff members are expected to respond to any emergencies, including off-hour emergencies.
- Collects samples of waste water for testing.
- Lubricates, cleans and repairs pumps, motors, facility buildings, and grounds.
- Routinely inspects and makes repairs to manholes.
- Routinely inspects and makes repairs to lift stations.
- Attends to all other duties as assigned by the Plant Supervisor.
- Practice good Public relations by interacting with the district’s customers and assisting staff with customer concerns.
Qualifications, Education/ Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Background in water, plumbing and mechanicals
- Valid Driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use all limbs, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, speak and hear. Employee must be capable of regularly lifting up to 65 pounds.

While performing the duties required for this position, the employee may be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee may be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
