Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician and play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care services! This is a full time position with WEEKENDS OFF! In this energetic position, you will support our optometrist by preparing patients for examinations, operating specialized ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, and ensuring smooth clinical workflows. Duties
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking accurate vital signs, medical history, and conducting initial intake assessments
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment
- Assist with eye refraction procedures and perform basic ophthalmic patient examinations under supervision
- Assist with contact lens assessments/fittings
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies throughout all interactions
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently, documenting patient information, exam results, and medical records accurately
- Support the clinical team with aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure a sterile environment and prevent infections
Requirements
- Prior medical office experience or optical retail experience is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to ophthalmology, and ophthalmic diagnostic procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records effectively
- Ability to operate medical equipment such as tonometers, A-scan ultrasound devices, and ophthalmic imaging tools with precision
- Strong patient service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor that fosters trust and comfort
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and clinical procedures
