AF Contractors is seeking an experienced and motivated Telecommunications Construction Superintendent / Project Coordinator to help lead and coordinate underground fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for a strong field leader who understands telecom construction operations, can manage multiple crews, communicate effectively with project managers and clients, and help maintain organized, efficient project execution from start to finish.
The ideal candidate will have experience reading and interpreting telecom construction drawings, coordinating daily field activities, managing schedules, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, communication, and productivity. This individual must be proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of helping build systems and processes within a growing company environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret telecommunications construction drawings, plans, specifications, and project documents
- Coordinate and supervise multiple underground telecom/fiber construction crews, directional drilling, excavation, fiber placement, traffic control, and hard surface restoration crew.
- Plan, schedule, and manage daily and weekly work activities
- Communicate daily with foremen, field personnel, inspectors, subcontractors, utilities, and project managers
- Coordinate upcoming work activities, project changes, scheduling conflicts, and field adjustments
- Assist with project management systems, reporting, and operational processes
- Track project progress, production, delays, and field challenges
- Gather field information and communicate updates to project management
- Coordinate inspections, utility locates, traffic control, permitting requirements, and project logistics
- Assist with change order documentation and communication
- Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and manpower requirements
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and company standards
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and project planning activities
- Monitor crew performance, accountability, productivity, and professionalism
- Promote safe work practices and maintain a strong safety culture
Qualifications
- Previous experience in telecommunications or fiber optic construction required
- Familiarity with directional drilling, excavation, and fiber placement operations
- Experience supervising multiple field crews and managing telecom construction operations
- Strong understanding of underground utility and fiber optic construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility plans
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple moving parts in a fast-paced construction environment
- Experience with project scheduling and field coordination
- Self-motivated, dependable, and solution-oriented mindset
- Experience with quality control and production tracking preferred
- Fluent in English required; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL is a plus

Pay: $57,969.21 - $85,000.00 per year
