Margaritaville (Restaurant) located on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Assistant.
Overview
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to the Corporate Human Resources Manager and the General Manager. The Human Resources Assistant performs payroll, recruiting, scheduling, and training tasks and acts as the primary liaison between the department and other employees. To succeed in the role, candidates should possess excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Duties
- Acts as the primary liaison between the Human Resources Department and other employees.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of employee and company employment and payroll information.
- Assists with recruitment by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, participating in job interviews, and performing background checks.
- Coordinates onboarding for new hires and conducts orientation.
- Maintains vacation and sick leave benefits accrual balances.
- Performs administrative functions related to the group health insurance program.
- Performs payroll processing tasks, including data entry, verification, and filing.
- Works closely with department heads to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Answers queries regarding payroll and resolves any payroll errors.
- Prepares statistical reports.
- Assists General Manager with administrative duties.
- Some payable functions, to include chargebacks.
Requirements and Skills
- Proven experience in human resources management or administrative roles within a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Oracle HCM, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms for data entry and reporting.
- Knowledge of employment and labor law compliance requirements including FMLA and OSHA regulations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability in project management, change management strategies, and organizational design processes.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Payroll processing experience.
Education and Experience
- An associate’s degree and combined relevant work experience; OR
- High school degree or diploma preferred and at least three (3) years’ experience in a human resource and/or administrative role.
