Bagshahi Bariatric and General Surgery is seeking a dedicated, dependable, and highly organized Insurance Verification Specialist / Medical Receptionist to join our growing bariatric surgery practice. This front-office position plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient service while ensuring accurate insurance verification and smooth daily clinic operations.

Schedule
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of medical office experience preferred
- Bariatric surgery or surgical specialty experience strongly preferred
Certifications
- BLS certification preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients and provide professional front-desk customer service
- Perform patient check-in and check-out processes
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls
- Verify insurance benefits, eligibility, deductibles, co-insurance, and copays
- Obtain and document accurate patient insurance information
- Assist with prior authorizations and pre-determinations
- Schedule office appointments, procedures, and surgeries
- Coordinate referrals to outside providers and facilities
- Register patients and maintain accurate medical records
- Scan and upload patient documents into the electronic medical record system
- Complete daily balancing and end-of-day responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies
- Guide patients through the bariatric surgery process and answer questions regarding scheduling, insurance requirements, and next steps
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and benefits investigation
- Understanding of prior authorizations, referrals, deductibles, co-insurance, and copay requirements
- Knowledge of surgery scheduling processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
