We’re seeking both full-time and part-time Assistant Teachers to support our co-lead educators in providing engaging, responsive, and safe learning experiences outdoors. Whether you’re just starting out in early childhood education or bringing years of experience, this is an opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you’ll grow alongside the children you teach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support co-lead teachers in daily routines, nature-based lessons, and transitions
- Engage with children in play, exploration, and problem-solving in outdoor settings
- Help supervise children and maintain a safe, respectful group dynamic
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and gear management
- Model patience, wonder, and empathy in all interactions
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with children, colleagues, and families
- Be a flexible, grounded presence in a team-based teaching model
Qualifications
Required:
Meets DCYF licensing requirements, including ECE Initial Certificate, background check clearance and TB Test Required Within 30 to 90 Days of Hire (Can Be Earned on the Job)
- ECE Initial Certificate
- First Aid/CPR: Current First Aid and CPR certification (some ONB programs require Wilderness First Aid).
- Basic Training: Completion of the 30-hour Child Care Basics (CCB) course.
- Safety Courses: Blood Borne Pathogens training and a valid Food Handler Permit.
- Nature-Based Training: 10 hours (or 1 college credit) of specialized nature-based education training.
- Registry: Must be registered in the MERIT workforce database.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Positive, dependable, and team-oriented
Preferred:
- ECE Initial Certificate or actively working toward one
- Experience working with preschool-aged children
- Familiarity with nature-based or child-led learning

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
