Job Summary
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to patients and their families. The PSR serves as a vital link between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience throughout the patient’s journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, addressing their inquiries and needs.
- Provide information about services, procedures, and policies.
Scheduling and Registration:
- Schedule appointments and manage patient calendars.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and other communications professionally and efficiently.
Insurance and Billing:
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and coverage.
- Process payments and provide financial information as needed.
Problem Resolution:
- Address patient concerns and complaints promptly, escalating issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure patient needs are met.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
· Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role is highly desirable.
Skills:
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health records (EHR).
· Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Working Conditions:
· May require sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials.
· Work in a healthcare setting, interacting with patients, families, and medical staff.
· This position requires excellent attendance as there is minimal back-up. All time off requests should be submitted with a 2 week notice unless unforeseeable.
