Boardwalk Beach Hotel & Convention Center is seeking a full-time, detail-oriented, hands-on Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department.
This position plays an important role in maintaining guest room and public area cleanliness standards while providing leadership, training, and support to the housekeeping team. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will work closely with the Housekeeping Manager and other hotel departments to ensure guest needs are met and the hotel operates efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, coach, and support housekeeping team members.
- Assist with scheduling and daily assignment of housekeeping staff.
- Conduct inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned areas to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
- Monitor room status and communicate with Front Desk and other departments regarding room readiness and maintenance needs.
- Respond to guest requests and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assist the Housekeeping Manager with daily department operations and staffing needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with ordering supplies.
- Assist with housekeeping related invoicing and payroll processes.
- Monitor proper use and storage of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Ensure housekeeping staff follow company policies, OSHA requirements, and established safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of housekeeping team members.
- Oversee Lost & Found procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Help maintain appropriate housekeeping productivity and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with Front Desk, Maintenance, Laundry, and other departments to address operational needs.
- Assist with special projects, deep-cleaning initiatives, and other housekeeping needs as assigned.
- Serve as Manager on Duty approximately 2–3 evening shifts per month.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager or Hotel Management.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping or hotel operations preferred.
- Previous hotel housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to handle guest concerns professionally and courteously.
- Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleanliness standards, and workplace safety practices.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements preferred.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn hotel and housekeeping systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have excellent attendance and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift.
- Ability to perform hands-on housekeeping duties when needed.
- Ability to lift and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment.
- Ability to work throughout guest rooms, public areas, laundry areas, and other hotel spaces.
