Provide care and transportation of sick and injured in accordance with the standard curriculum for AEMT and the protocols adopted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Emergency Health Services
Essential Job Functions:
· Provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance operations in conjunction with a partner, demonstrating excellent judgement and due regard for personal, as well as, public safety and inter-agency cooperation and effectiveness
· Provide care to all persons as appropriate without regard to age, gender, sex, national origin, color, religion or handicap.
· Document all care completely and accurately in accordance with the policies of the Department of Health and the emergency health services region and in accord with company policies and procedures.
· Maintain vehicles and medical equipment and replenish first aid supplies and equipment reporting any mechanical defect in the vehicle, radios or equipment promptly.
· Respond in a prompt and timely manner to all Emergency requests for service. Respond in a timely manner to non- emergency transports to insure excellent customer service.
· Treat all persons encountered with courtesy and respect, even in trying circumstances. This includes but not limited to: patients, family members, colleagues, health facility staff and other emergency responders.
· Operate all vehicles in a safe manner and in strict accordance with all laws and regulations of the Commonwealth and the policies of the organization
· Ensure all contaminated material is disposed of properly; contaminated equipment is properly cleaned and disinfected prior to being returned to service in accordance with blood borne pathogens standards.
· Perform assigned station duties. Such duties include but are not limited to: Maintaining all areas of the station in a neat, clean manner, including the vehicle bay, toilets, decontamination room, grounds, crew lounge/kitchen, bunkroom, etc.
· Perform all tasks and assignments, including rescue and extrication operations in a safe manner, using scene safety principles, and standard infection control precautions.
· Arrive on time for duty and prepared to respond, in proper uniform and gear, immediately. All employees are to be proper, neat and clean uniforms when on duty.
· Ensure the safety of Precepting Employees, ‘ride alongs’ and students that are under your direction and supervision.
· Participate in the Precepting of new employees.
· All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of computer systems.
- Professional communications techniques.
- Methods and techniques of providing on-site emergency medical services.
- Use of medical and related emergency medical equipment.
- Applicable BLS and ALS service levels, clinical practices, procedures and protocols, and quality assurance guidelines.
- Local area EMS infrastructure and geography.

Certification(s) and/or License(s)
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license. (All drivers and career associates)
- EMT-A’s must possess and maintain a valid State of Pennsylvania EMT-A Certification.
- Must possess an EVOC certification (NCS or VFIS)
- Must maintain current CPR (ARC of AHA are acceptable)
- Must maintain AED (CAC Medical Director requirement)
- Must have taken PHTLS
- Must have current ACLS/PALS Certification
- Must have completed an annual Blood Borne Pathogen/TB/Hz-Com Awareness Program
Education and/or Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Completion of course work and certification as an EMT-A.
- A minimum of one (1) year field experience as an EMT.
- Must maintain a total of 24 Continuing Education Units within a 3-year period.
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
