Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field; CMA, CPA, or MBA highly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years as a Controller with supervisory experience
- Proven expertise in manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, and month-end/year-end close
- Familiarity with GAAP and experience working with auditors
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage large data sets efficiently
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and problem-solving capabilities
The primary responsibilities for this Controller position encompass:
- Preparing comprehensive monthly financial statements and detailed analytical reports
- Providing in-depth cost accounting support specifically tailored to manufacturing activities
- Partnering with production teams to ensure accurate capture of costs and analyzing variances
- Acting as the main liaison with external auditors during financial audits and tax filings
- Overseeing compliance with Sales and Use Tax regulations
- Conducting timely and thorough balance sheet reconciliations with proper documentation
- Managing treasury functions and capital expenditure processes, including depreciation handling
- Leading system controls improvements and collaborating with IT to automate financial processes
- Supporting management with insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations
- Overseeing the finance team, including the Assistant Controller, Accounts Receivable, and A/P managers
- Facilitating the annual budgeting process across multiple locations and divisions
- Challenging existing policies and proposing enhancements to accounting procedures
- Handling other related duties as needed
