Position Overview:
The Low Voltage Engineer (Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems) is responsible for reviewing specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to develop system designs, scopes of work, proposals, estimates, and bills of materials (BOMs) for fire alarm and low-voltage systems. This position supports sales, operations, project management, and field personnel by providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, AHJ requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
- Review plans, specifications, and customer requirements to develop scopes of work, system designs, and project estimates.
- Prepare detailed estimates, material takeoffs, labor calculations, bills of materials, and proposals for fire alarm and low-voltage projects.
- Develop conceptual designs and estimates for CCTV, Access Control, BDA/DAS, Area of Refuge, Intercom, Paging, and Structured Cabling systems.
- Evaluate project requirements and identify discrepancies, omissions, and risks that may impact project execution or pricing.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, AHJs, sales teams, project managers, and field personnel throughout the design and estimating process.
- Provide technical support during project turnover, execution, and change order review.
- Maintain accurate project documentation while managing multiple bids, deadlines, and priorities.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and applicable codes, including NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), IBC, IFC, and local AHJ requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as a team.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or technical training in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in estimating, engineering support, system design, project management, or a related low-voltage industry role.
- NICET certification preferred.
- Manufacturer certifications preferred.
- CAD or system design software experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to occasionally visit construction sites and customer locations.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per hour
