Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team on a per diem basis. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality patient care across diverse clinical settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and effective treatment for individuals of all ages. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
- Administer medications via various routes such as injections and IV infusions, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with complex procedures including catheterization, suturing, wound care, dialysis management, and tube feeding.
- Monitor patients’ conditions closely in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers; respond promptly to acute pain or emergency situations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in settings like emergency medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, pediatrics, geriatrics, and behavioral health.
- Support discharge planning and case management efforts to ensure seamless transitions of care for patients with chronic conditions or developmental disabilities.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical settings such as ICU, emergency room, trauma centers (Level I & II), or hospital medicine.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and laboratory procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Skilled in advanced nursing techniques such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, ventilator management, aseptic technique, and infection control practices.
- Experience caring for special populations including neonatal (neonatal ventilator), pediatric (pediatrics), adult (internal medicine), geriatrics (memory care & dementia), and individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and participate in trauma medicine or urgent care procedures confidently.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with critical thinking to prioritize care needs effectively.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law and hospice & palliative medicine principles is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication within multidisciplinary teams.
