Summary of Position
We seek a highly motivated and experienced SEO Manager to co-manage our SEO team and drive our digital marketing efforts to new heights. As an SEO Manager, you'll be at the forefront of shaping our online presence and driving organic traffic. Your primary focus will be co-managing the team, ensuring the department is equipped with the latest techniques and strategies to deliver exceptional results. Because this role bridges the gap between internal strategy and client-facing communication, you must possess excellent communication skills who thrives on building relationships and collaborating across departments.
In this role, you will oversee a dedicated book of clients (typically around 30-40 accounts). However, your daily focus isn't just executing tasks; it’s leading, guiding, and managing the activities and escalations of the strategists who handle these accounts. You will also oversee the strategic introduction of junior team members to clients as they support the workload.
Additionally, you will partner closely with growth efforts by joining sales team calls as necessary to perform live or technical SEO audits and directly address prospect pain points to help close deals. We are looking for a true leader who can bring their management skills to the table to continually refine our processes, make operations smoother, and mentor the team.

Position Responsibilities

Team & Operations Management: Co-manage the SEO team, bringing strong leadership skills to streamline processes, improve management workflows, and foster an environment of continuous learning and professional growth

Team Leadership & Accountability: Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and objectives for team members. Drive individual and collective excellence by providing consistent guidance, ongoing training sessions, and constructive feedback through regular performance evaluations.

Thought Leadership & Future-Proofing: Act as a forward-thinking leader by keeping an eye on new search channels. Help drive our point of view on Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) as we trend toward it, positioning us as an early adopter.

Departmental Tracking & Reporting: Collaborate with your fellow SEO Managers to develop and implement comprehensive metrics to measure overall departmental performance, regularly updating senior management on progress, wins, and strategic milestones.

End-to-End SEO Strategy & Oversight: For your team, exercise strategic oversight across all functional areas of SEO, ensuring high-quality execution across comprehensive keyword research, meticulous on-page optimization, technical SEO audits, and impactful link-building initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster seamless cooperation with internal cross-functional teams to align SEO initiatives with overarching company and marketing objectives, continually optimizing workflows for maximum efficiency and impact.

Sales Collaboration & Audits: Partner with the sales team by joining prospective client calls as needed to provide technical expertise, diagnose pain points, and deliver insightful SEO audits that showcase our value.

Client Portfolio Oversight: Manage a book of roughly 30-40 clients. Rather than doing all the heavy lifting yourself, you will guide our strategists, handle client escalations, and strategically introduce junior team members to the accounts.

Operational Flexibility: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management to support the growth of the team.
Requirements
Agency Experience: 6+ years of hands-on SEO experience specifically within a high-growth marketing agency environment.-
People Leadership: 3+ years of experience managing, leading, and mentoring a team of SEO specialists and strategists. A proven track record of balancing workloads and maintaining a stable, motivated team.

GEO Mindset: While we are primarily looking for someone "GEO curious" who can adapt quickly to evolving AI search channels. Recent experience with Generative Engine Optimization is a plus!

SEO Expertise & Toolkit: An in-depth understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices. Highly proficient with standard SEO tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush).

Local SEO & GBP Mastery (Must-Have): Deep, proven experience navigating Local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization.

Website SEO (Must-Have): Comprehensive understanding of complex on-page and off-page website optimization strategies.

Technical SEO (Nice-to-Have): Strong foundational knowledge of Technical SEO, with an interest or experience in helping us automate tech SEO processes to increase team efficiency.

Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills paired with outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Must be people-centric and comfortable presenting to prospective clients.

Agility & Learning Curve: Ability to learn our sales-to-onboarding and maintenance workflows within 90 days, with a demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to shifting SEO trends and algorithm changes.
The total compensation for this salaried exempt opportunity includes a base salary range of $90,000 to $100,000, the potential for bonuses, plus benefits. This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including role, level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, your recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range.
