About the Role
This is a working foreman position leading landscape crews on sod installation and outdoor projects across Wichita.
You are responsible for:
- The quality of the finished product
- The productivity of the crew
- The execution of the job from start to finish
This is not a “lead by title” role.You are expected to run the job site, make decisions in the field, and ensure the work is done correctly the first time.
Most projects include:
- Sod installation and lawn establishment
- Grading and soil preparation
- Irrigation, drainage, and planting (as projects expand)
A typical day includes:
- Reviewing scope and confirming expectations before work starts
- Organizing materials, equipment, and crew roles
- Driving production while maintaining quality
- Adjusting in real time when conditions change
Core Responsibilities
Field Execution & Quality Control
- Lead and perform sod installation, grading, and landscape work
- Ensure all work meets company standards — no shortcuts, no rework
- Verify scope before starting to prevent mistakes downstream
- Inspect completed work before leaving the site
Crew Leadership
- Direct crew members clearly and keep work moving
- Correct issues immediately when standards are not met
- Set pace, expectations, and accountability on every job
- Maintain control of the job site without constant oversight
Job Ownership
- Take responsibility for the outcome of each project
- Solve problems in the field instead of waiting for direction
- Communicate clearly with management when issues arise
- Adapt when plans change without losing control of the job
Equipment & Job Site Discipline
- Maintain and protect tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional
- Ensure materials are used efficiently and correctly
Environment Fit (Read Carefully)
This role requires someone who can perform when:
- Job scopes are clear but conditions in the field vary
- Plans adjust based on site conditions or priorities
- You are expected to make decisions without waiting for approval
You must be able to:
- Stay focused on outcomes even when things are not perfect
- Keep your crew productive without constant direction from above
- Maintain standards even under time pressure
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 60–90 days:
- Jobs are completed cleanly, correctly, and without callbacks
- Crews stay productive and require minimal correction from management
- Work is consistent across job sites — not dependent on who is watching
- Problems are handled in the field instead of passed upward

Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of landscaping, sod installation, or outdoor construction experience
- Experience leading or directing a crew on job sites
- Ability to read job scope and execute without step-by-step direction
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work daily
Preferred (Valued, Not Required)
- Skid steer, sod cutter, or equipment experience
- Irrigation or drainage installation experience
- Hardscaping (pavers, retaining walls, patios)
- Planting design or installation experience
