Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Supervisor to lead our transportation and logistics operations. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate road transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of freight while adhering to DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Manage vehicle dispatching using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management.
- Oversee data entry related to shipments, deliveries, and fleet activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms.
- Monitor GPS tracking systems to optimize routes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with transportation planning objectives.
- Handle phone call management for dispatching inquiries, customer service issues, or emergency situations with professional phone etiquette.
- Maintain organized records of shipping & receiving logs, freight documentation, and compliance reports in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Support logistics functions including shipping & receiving processes, freight coordination, and 3PL (third-party logistics) partnerships.
- Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process improvements within road transportation operations and supply chain workflows.
- Ensure fleet management practices promote vehicle maintenance schedules, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in transportation planning or logistics management within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management.
- Familiarity with road transportation operations including dispatching, freight handling, fleet management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications for reporting, data entry, and communication purposes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for internal coordination via multi-line phone systems and external customer interactions.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to vehicle operation, driver hours of service, safety standards, and compliance documentation is highly desirable.
