Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our urgent care healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support within our clinical environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and the ability to work effectively in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The Medical Assistant will assist healthcare professionals in various tasks, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. In addition to weekdays, some weekends and holidays are required.
Duties
- Perform intake procedures, including collecting patient histories and vital signs
- Assist with medication administration and ensure accurate documentation
- Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient information
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient communications
- Conduct basic life support as needed and respond to emergencies in accordance with protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as dermatology, urgent care, internal medicine, and emergency medicine
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in patient assessments
- Assist with ICD coding for billing purposes and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical setting preferred; hospital experience is a plus
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology is essential
- Knowledge of vital signs assessment, intake procedures, and medication administration
- Experience in outpatient or inpatient care settings, including clinic experience or Level I/II trauma center experience
- Basic life support certification required; additional certifications in specialties such as geriatrics or pediatrics (PICU) are advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service and care quality
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
