Barton Overhead Door is hiring an experienced Commercial Overhead Door Service Technician for our Modesto team. This is an expert-level field position for a technician with at least five years of commercial overhead door experience.
Service and troubleshooting are the primary responsibilities. The position also includes incidental commercial installation and field-estimating work when needed. Our company is smaller than many in the industry, with a positive, family-friendly work environment. We try to be flexible while continuing to take care of our customers.
The right candidate can independently diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial overhead doors and operators. Required equipment knowledge includes sectional doors, sheet doors, rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, fire doors, cold-storage doors, and commercial operators.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems with commercial doors and operators.
- Service and maintain all types of commercial overhead doors and operators.
- Replace springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, operators, controls, and related components.
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
- Identify needed repairs and clearly explain findings to customers.
- Complete service documentation accurately and promptly.
- Perform commercial door and operator installations as needed.
- Field-measure and help estimate repair, replacement, and installation work as needed.
- Think on your feet and solve problems in active service and construction environments.
- Interact with customers professionally.
- Work carefully and safely, use required PPE, and take proper care of company equipment.
- Maintain an orderly work area, service vehicle, tools, and inventory.
- Drive a company service vehicle.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding schedules, job progress, material needs, and issues.
- Assist other departments when needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years of experience installing and/or servicing commercial overhead doors and operators.
- Expert-level knowledge of commercial door systems and safe work practices.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
- Current driver license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English for customer service, safety, and work documentation.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to safely lift and handle parts and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, including springs and operators, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, reach, work overhead, use ladders and lifts, and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions.
- Consistent attendance, punctuality, and safe work habits.
Compensation and Benefits
