Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to join our transportation operations team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage the dispatching of yard jockey drivers, ensuring the trailers are in the correct place at our large truck depot. Responsibilities
- Coordinate the scheduling and dispatching of freight and vehicles using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms.
- Enter data accurately into logistics database ensuring all shipment details are current and correct.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to coordinate shipping & receiving activities, freight movement, and fleet management tasks.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation planning environments.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, and fleet management tools.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple lines of communication simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—and professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to analyze logistical data for decision-making purposes; strong analysis skills are a plus.
- Experience with shipping & receiving processes as well as freight management is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
