Safety Manager
The Safety Manager will oversee safety programs for heavy civil bridge infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 – 10 years of experience in construction safety management and will possess a strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to heavy civil infrastructure projects. This role will be involved in safety management and field oversight to ensure safety for staff and craft employees, subcontractors and consultants.
Responsibilities:
Safety Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures specific to bridge construction projects.
Ensure safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices and Loftus’s safety standards.
Review and approve safety plans for all construction activities.
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits and assessments.
Training and Education:
Work with Project Management team to plan, implement and supervise the project environmental, health and safety requirements. Collaborate with PM’s to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
Develop and deliver safety training programs for all on-site personnel.
Provide and oversee Safety Orientation processes.
Provide guidance on safety related certifications and qualifications, schedule relevant training courses.
Reinforce safety culture and accountability with field team members, promoting positive reinforcement through coaching and mentoring.
Create and deliver relevant weekly safety talks.
Incident Management and Investigation:
Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses and accidents.
Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Assist with OSHA related issues, citations and /or documentation requirements.
Assist with workers comp injuries, general liability and near miss investigations.
Develop and maintain relationships with insurance company representatives and external safety organizations and regulatory bodies.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Familiarity with occupational health standards and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and delivering presentations.
- First aid, CPR, OSHA 10, OSHA 30 certifications are preferred.
