People's is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to own the technology environment for our multi-site operations — a hands-on role where you'll run the environment, not just oversee it. Microsoft 365 sits at the center (identity, email, endpoint management), with coverage across fleet management, multi-vendor networking, security operations, AV/collaboration, and technology asset management.
You'll also hold the IT seat on our AI / tech team — you don't need to arrive as an AI expert, but solid IT fundamentals, curiosity, and a drive to build are essential. At People's, we embody three core values: Give a Damn, Keep it Simple, and Be Accountable. If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Microsoft 365 & Identity Administration: Administer Microsoft 365 end to end — Entra, Intune, tenant health, and day-to-day user administration.
- Endpoint & Device Management: Manage a mixed Windows/Mac fleet through Intune, including macOS lifecycle via Apple Business Manager and zero-touch provisioning across all sites.
- Network & Infrastructure: Own networking at every site — servers, switches, VLANs, routing, firewall policy, Wi-Fi — planning upgrades with minimal downtime and solving connectivity for non-standard environments.
- Security Operations: First internal responder to security events (e.g., business email compromise) — lock down, investigate, and harden. Own email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and endpoint security as part of a co-managed model run primarily in-house.
- Hardware and Software Wizardry: Install, configure, and repair desktops, servers, network hardware, and peripherals to keep operations running at peak performance.
- IT Strategy & Project Management: Contribute to IT strategy, and lead IT projects within budget and timeline from planning through execution.
- Executive IT Support: Provide direct, responsive technical support to company leadership for their devices and day-to-day needs.
- AI Collaboration: Hold the IT seat on the AI / tech team, scripting in Bash and PowerShell to automate provisioning and fleet management, and keeping clear runbooks so things run reliably.
- Tech Asset Management: Maintain an organized inventory, labeling, and lifecycle system for technology assets across all sites.
- Structured Operations & Documentation: Maintain a disciplined rhythm of daily/weekly health checks and routine administration, documenting configurations as you go.
- Vendors & Procurement: Coordinate with technology vendors across telecom, hardware, and print, and research/validate hardware for specialized deployments.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements
- 5–7 years of relevant IT systems / infrastructure experience, with demonstrated hands-on ownership of physical and digital environments across multiple sites.
- A degree or equivalent practical experience.
- IT fundamentals are required; AI and automation are a mindset we will actively develop — candidates who like to build, tinker, and learn will thrive here.
Role Level & Focus
- This is a Level 2 (L2) position — a hands-on hardware and software integrator, not a specialized lab/instrumentation technician (e.g., HPLC).
- Strong, hands-on hardware capability paired with Office 365 management experience is a specific, core requirement for this role.
Certifications (Highly Desired)
- Microsoft 365 / Endpoint Administrator (MD-102), Azure / Identity and Access, or comparable Microsoft credentials.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong problem-solver — makes swift, well-informed decisions and quickly breaks down complex technical issues.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize across competing site needs and document as you go.
- Professional, confident, and comfortable working directly with executives and staff across the production floor, farm, and office.
Technology Expertise
Hands-on experience across the following is expected:
- Microsoft 365: Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, and Conditional Access.
- Mixed Windows/macOS fleet management (Apple Business Manager/MDM, zero-touch provisioning).
- Multi-vendor networking: Meraki, SonicWall, and UniFi (VLANs, routing, firewall policy, Wi-Fi design).
- Core network fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and general server and switch configuration.
- Email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and incident-response fundamentals.
- Scripting in Bash/PowerShell, with comfort directing AI-assisted work.
- AV and collaboration: Zoom Rooms with Shure audio and Logitech video, the Vibe interactive smartboard, structured cabling, and Slack administration.
