The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe and effective filling, dispensing, and management of medication orders in accordance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and best practices. Provides medication therapy expertise and drug-related information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Oversees medication preparation, storage, distribution, and compliance with all regulatory requirements, as well as supervises supportive personnel when required.

1. Prepares and dispenses medications, ensuring accurate interpretation, labeling, and distribution for inpatients, outpatients, and ancillary areas.
2. Provides drug information, therapy recommendations, and education to patients and healthcare professionals.
3. Reviews and interprets medication orders for accuracy; identifies errors, omissions, or drug interactions, and consults with prescribers as needed.
4. Maintains accurate patient medication profiles and conducts drug utilization reviews to ensure optimal therapy.
5. Supervises, trains, and checks the work of supportive pharmacy personnel.
6. Prepares specialty or compounded medications and sterile products as required, following protocols for safety and accuracy.
7. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agency standards governing drug storage, preparation, and dispensing.
8. Manages controlled substances inventory, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
9. Conducts monthly nursing unit checks for proper medication storage, outdated medication removal, and provides feedback and resources to nursing staff.
10. Supports and participates in quality assurance and improvement projects, such as drug usage evaluations and department audits.
11. Assumes charge pharmacist responsibilities and resolves pharmacy issues in the absence of the Pharmacy Director.
12. Provides in-service education for medical and nursing staff regarding medications and pharmacy procedures.
13. Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy trends, new drug therapies, and policy updates through continuing education.
14. Documents and communicates incidents, errors, or performance concerns promptly through the correct channels.
15. Upholds the highest standards of professionalism, respect, confidentiality, and courtesy in interactions with patients, families, and team members.
16. Maintains compliance with all safety training, exposure plans, and participates fully in staff meetings and required education.
17. Behave and dress in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facilities Standards of Behavior.
