Overview
We're looking for an experienced barista to join our small team in bringing excellent global coffees to our local community. You will follow recipes using traditional ratios and techniques to craft tasty beverages from our house-roasted coffee, as well as provide a clean, cozy space for the community. Beyond the technical aspects of making great coffee, we emphasize the practice of superb hospitality through the entire customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high quality coffee drinks with high fidelity to recipes, commitment to consistency and excellence
- Continually learn and grow in your own journey as a coffee professional
- Engage with customers warmly, taking orders accurately and providing excellent service to enhance their experience
- Operate Toast POS systems and handle cash register transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards across the café, including food preparation and food handling procedures
- Manage time effectively and collaborate during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality
- Prepare and serve light food items
- Collaborate with the team to create new menu items and continually improve operational procedures
Experience
- Prior barista experience in a specialty coffee shop is strongly preferred, but not required. Enthusiasm for the craft and desire to learn is a must, regardless of experience!
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and positively with a diverse range of guests
- Knowledge of food safety practices - Food safety manager or handler certification is greatly appreciated, but not required.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to work in within a small team with reliability and clear communication
