Position Summary
We are seeking skilled CNC Lathe and Mill Machinists for both 1st and 2nd shift operations in a precision machine shop environment. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC lathes and mills to produce high-quality parts that meet customer specifications, print requirements, and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and machining centers for production and short-run jobs
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and job travelers
- Load and edit CNC programs at the machine as needed
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Maintain dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Monitor machine performance and make tool offsets / adjustments as needed
- Troubleshoot machining issues including chatter, tool wear, and dimensional variation
- Deburr and clean parts as required
- Perform basic machine maintenance and daily housekeeping
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and scrap records
- Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, programmers, quality, and maintenance teams
- Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives
Qualifications
- 2+ years CNC machining experience preferred (lathe and/or mill)
- Experience with setup and operation of CNC machines
- Ability to read blueprints and use standard inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges)
- Knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining practices
- Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls preferred
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Skills
- Experience with tight tolerance machining
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Experience with multi-axis machines or live tooling
- Experience with Haas Mills and Doosan Lathes a plus
- Forklift / crane experience a plus
- Basic computer skills for job tracking / ERP systems
Shift Details
- 1st Shift: Daylight hours with opportunity for overtime
- 2nd Shift: Afternoon / evening hours with shift differential available
