Job Summary
The Freedom Ranch Direct Support Staff role is to assist in the supervision of residents and provide outstanding care. The Direct support staff will help residents with life skills, medication pass, cooking, cleaning etc. This is an all female staff
Responsibilities
- Supervising daily operations with residents while on shift.
- Ensure overall safety and well-being of residents (providing hourly checks).
- Assist with medication management and ensure residents take their medications as prescribed by their doctor.
- Coordinate transportation to appointments and activities.
- Following the Daily Agenda/ Programming.
- Conduct random house inspections to ensure cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
- Holding all residents accountable for daily chores.
- Checking in with LS with organizing daily agenda/appointments/meetings that are scheduled during your shift.
- Charting on daily activities/appointments/behaviors.
- Providing Life Skills quality programs and activities that encourage youth to develop positive social & interpersonal skills.
- Implementing and carrying out the Freedom Ranch Incentive Program Points.
- Reporting to direct supervisor, Lead- Supervisor.
- Assist with food prep, school, therapy, and other related daily activities.
- Holding on to your assigned set of keys.
- Securing appropriate staff coverage and obtaining written approval before not reporting to your scheduled shift.
Skills/Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs and medication administration
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure resident confidentiality
- Experience working with youth
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with residents, families, and team members.
- Basic cooking skills for meal preparation and nutritional
- Support Flexibility with environment and scheduling
- Documentation on reports, activities, concerns, progress, school, visitation, etc.
- Working in a team environment and being able to adapt.
- Completing all required training (not limited to Life Space training, Ending the Game, and Mandated Reporter initiatives upon hire. Including any additional on-going required training, such as Trauma Informed Care.
- Transporting clients to and from scheduled appointments/events. This includes
- A. Having a good driving record that is cleared by Freedom Ranches insurance.
- B. Being comfortable attending cultural specific events. This may fluctuate with each resident.
This role is vital in supporting the health, safety, and happiness of our residents while fostering a caring environment that promotes dignity and independence.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
