Role and Responsibilities - Overview
As a Dog Training Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the training facilities and equipment are clean and well organized. You will assist Trainers with drills and exercises to support individual dog's training goals. You may be required to perform kennel tech duties in addition to the assistance provided in the hands-on training of dogs. This position supports the overall efficient functioning of the training program.
Previous experience in working with animals in a professional/training environment is required.
Specific Job Duties Include:
- Cleaning training facilities to ensure the environment is positive for dogs and staff
- Assist in training all dogs enrolled in the program as directed
- Examine and observe animals to detect signs of illness or injury.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers and management
- Interact with clients in a professional manner, assist with client training sessions
- Feed dogs and dispense required medications according to schedules
- Monitor dogs in the kennel to help determine additional training needs
- Manage training dogs in kennel (i.e. airing, dog movement and bark control)
- Set up facility and equipment for training sessions
- Working one-on-one with individual dogs as directed by trainers
- Give training dogs baths before appointments as needed
- Transport training dogs to vet, if needed
- Perform office and administrative duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to kennel operations
General Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old. Weekends and Holidays are mandatory. Shifts will vary, but will usually be 3 PM - 10 PM. Position starts are part-time but may grow into full-time. Previous experience in working with animals in a professional/training environment is required. Position starts at $14 per hour. Highly qualified/experienced individuals may earn more.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
