Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, dicing, and portioning according to recipes and safety guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, and fryers safely and efficiently
- Follow food safety protocols to maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination in all food handling activities
- Maintain a clean work area by sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and equipment regularly throughout shifts
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation tasks and ensure timely delivery of meals
- Adhere strictly to recipe instructions and portion sizes to uphold quality standards
- Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock needs
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining safety standards
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within restaurant or food service environments
- Strong knowledge of food safety management and handling procedures
- Excellent knife skills with slicing techniques for efficient ingredient prep
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in meal preparation
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Experience with dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus
