Job Description Summary
Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders facilitate student learning and help students better understand concepts or applications of course content. SI Leaders are assigned to courses that have been identified as “historically difficult” – courses having high D, F, and W rates. The SI attends each class session and provides two-three weekly group sessions covering the course content.
The SI Leaders support students and assists them in gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for their academic success. While attending the class, SI Leaders gather insight into the course content and the instruction methods in use. The SI Leaders also maintains ongoing contact with course professors and the SI Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned grade of “A” in the selected course.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds.
Commitment to work scheduled hours.
Ability to attend a paid, mandatory training prior to Fall/Spring semester.
