Boom Truck & Tractor-Trailer Driver/Operator
Gillespie Precast, LLC is looking for a Boom Truck & Tractor-Trailer Driver/Operator, with a valid CDL A license, to join our growing team. We are a family owned and operated company that values our drivers.
Boom Truck & Tractor-Trailer Driver/Operator Job Responsibilities:
- Learn our company’s safety program and always perform safe practices.
- Safely and efficiently operate a boom truck transport, as well as a tractor-trailer truck and flatbed, transporting precast concrete structures to and from the production site(s) to various customer job sites as directed by the plant manager and/or dispatcher. Ensure delivery records are processed appropriately.
- Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner.
- Be a team player and maintain a positive attitude with other team members.
- Communicate with dispatch, plant operators, other drivers, and customers to ensure proper delivery, placement, and to provide best-in-class service.
- Visually inspect the quality of the concrete structures before strapping down the product to leave the plant(s).
- Perform daily pre-trip equipment inspections (including tire pressure, brakes, air pressure, fluid levels, and lights – headlights, brake lights, running lights, etc.), as well as daily preventative truck maintenance.
- Demonstrate reliable work ethic and self-motivation. Ensure environmental and DOT requirements are followed.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- License: Must possess a valid CDL driver's license (Class A required) with current medical card and pass a pre-employment DOT drug screening.
- Driving: Minimum two (2) years of CDL driving experience with a clean driving record for the last 5 years.
- Must possess (or have the ability to obtain prior to hire) Air-Brake Endorsement.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must be able to understand written and oral instructions in English.
- Must have computer skills, ability to use a tablet.
- Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain respectful relationships with other staff.
- Interpreting written information such as safety rules, sales tickets, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong work ethic with flexibility. This position requires varied working hours and the ability to work overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Flexibility to work in the yard or shop, and/or operate other commercial vehicles on slower delivery days.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 80 lb. several times daily.
- Must be able to stand, walk, crouch, squat, bend, reach, grasp, lift, load, push, pull throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb up and down multiple times throughout the day.
