Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful role supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students as an American Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity takes place in the vibrant community near Fort Myers, FL, and begins in August 2026, continuing through late May 2027. As a key member of the educational team, you’ll provide essential communication access and foster inclusion at either an elementary or high school campus. With a full-time commitment of up to 37.5 hours weekly, your expertise will empower students both one-on-one and in small group settings.
Desired Qualifications:
- 3.0 EIPA score or higher (required)
- Demonstrated experience interpreting in K-12 school environments
- Knowledge of educational terminology and cultural sensitivity within diverse student populations
- Current fingerprint clearance or eligibility to update, in compliance with Florida school district requirements
- Flexibility to adapt to different age groups and settings throughout the school year
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation services to DHH students in educational settings
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers both individually and in group settings
- Collaborate with educational staff to support student learning objectives
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant ethical standards
