Duties
- Safely operate forklift trucks, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport goods within the warehouse.
- Perform order picking with manual handling techniques and order picker equipment to fulfill shipping requests accurately.
- Manage inventory by conducting regular stock counts, updating warehouse management systems (WMS), and ensuring proper storage of materials.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying shipments against purchase orders and packing lists using barcode scanning technology.
- Maintain safety protocols including OSHA regulations, forklift safety standards, and warehouse safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs on forklifts and other machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Support warehouse distribution operations by organizing inventory on pallets, using pallet jacks or Hi-Lo forklifts for heavy lifting tasks.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve overall warehouse efficiency through effective materials handling practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, or similar heavy equipment in a warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards related to forklift operation and materials handling.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Basic math skills for counting inventory, measuring loads, and verifying shipment quantities.
- Strong understanding of shipping & receiving processes within a distribution environment.
- Valid certification for forklift operation (if applicable) or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
