American Traveler is seeking an experienced oncology RN for a 17-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Acute care oncology unit (7th floor) in a hospital setting, with 29 beds
-
Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care
-
Occasionally, outpatient area patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment if the outpatient area closes
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6

Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
-
Charge nurse is staffed outside of the grid under normal circumstances
-
Telemetry is present (central monitor); ability to read strips is not required
-
Charting is done in MEDITECH
-
12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Every other weekend required

Floating to medical acute is rare
-
Holiday rotation with staff required
-
17-week contract

Active RN license in Georgia or a Compact state currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA required)

NIHSS certification preferred; ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy

Minimum 2 years of oncology (specialty) experience required

At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Driver's license required for consideration

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement

3-day floor-specific orientation provided

Caribbean blue scrubs required

Candidates employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement

Requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment to be considered

Holidays are rotated with permanent staff
