POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports the operation, setup, testing, and maintenance of advanced manufacturing equipment used in electron beam welding and related production activities. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, Quality, and Operations personnel to execute qualified manufacturing processes, support equipment operation, perform assembly and testing activities, and maintain required production documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate electron beam welding equipment and supporting production systems under approved procedures.
- Perform machine setup, fixturing, part loading, and production preparation activities.
- Verify production parameters, work instructions, travelers, and documentation prior to processing.
- Support qualification, development, and production welding activities.
- Maintain production records, process logs, and traceability documentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment, tooling, fixturing, and process issues.
- Support assembly, testing, calibration, and maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality personnel to investigate and document process anomalies.
- Participate in continuous improvement and process development efforts.
- Perform additional manufacturing and technical support duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, CNC machining, multi-axis motion-control equipment automated equipment operation, welding, testing, maintenance, or related industrial environments.
- Experience working from engineering drawings, work instructions, routers, travelers, or standard operating procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Proficient with standard hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Exposure to process qualifications, testing, calibration, or technical troubleshooting.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- CNC setup or programming experience.
- Welding experience (TIG, MIG, SAW, laser, or automated welding systems).
- Familiarity with titanium, stainless steel, nickel alloys, or specialty metals.
- Experience with vacuum systems, thermal processing equipment, or laboratory/test environments
- Experience in aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular pushing, pulling, lifting, bending and kneeling.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walking.
- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with arms and hands.
- Climb stairs and/or ladders.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Travel across the Arlington campus.
