Position Overview
We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Senior Vice President (SVP) to lead the in-house design and build of hyperscale and AI-driven data center infrastructure.
This is a working executive role for an individual who can personally engineer, design, specify, draft, and execute large-scale mission-critical infrastructure projects from concept through construction.
The ideal candidate is not simply managing outside engineering firms or overseeing teams from a distance. This individual must be capable of directly producing infrastructure layouts, technical drawings, engineering specifications, construction packages, and deployment standards while driving full project execution internally.
The role requires deep expertise in hyperscale data center infrastructure, AI/GPU environments, mission-critical systems, and rapid deployment construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
In-House Design & Engineering
- Personally design and engineer hyperscale data center infrastructure systems
- Produce and review:
- Site plans
- Floor layouts
- Rack density plans
- One-line electrical diagrams
- Mechanical system layouts
- Cooling infrastructure designs
- Technical specifications
- Construction drawing packages
- Develop infrastructure standards for AI and GPU compute environments
- Create scalable deployment templates and repeatable design standards
Hyperscale & AI Infrastructure
- Design infrastructure supporting large-scale GPU and AI compute deployments
- Engineer high-density power and cooling systems for hyperscale environments
- Specify infrastructure for:
- NVIDIA GPU clusters
- Liquid cooling systems
- High-capacity electrical distribution
- Fiber and network backbone systems
- Modular and prefabricated deployments
- Perform capacity planning, thermal analysis, and infrastructure optimization
Design-Build Execution
- Lead full in-house design-build project delivery
- Coordinate directly with contractors, utilities, architects, vendors, and trades
- Oversee construction execution, commissioning, and infrastructure startup
- Resolve field engineering and construction challenges in real time
- Ensure rapid deployment schedules and operational readiness
Technical Leadership
- Serve as senior technical authority for all infrastructure engineering decisions
- Maintain direct involvement in design, drafting, specifications, and field execution
- Establish engineering, QA/QC, and deployment standards
- Ensure all projects meet uptime, redundancy, scalability, and operational requirements
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in hyperscale, mission-critical, or data center infrastructure design and construction
- Proven experience leading full design-build delivery of large-scale data center projects
- Ability to personally create:
- Engineering drawings
- Infrastructure layouts
- Technical specifications
- Construction packages
- Deployment standards
- Deep expertise in:
- Electrical infrastructure
- Mechanical systems
- Cooling systems
- Critical facilities
- High-density AI/GPU environments
- Strong understanding of:
- Hyperscale infrastructure architecture
- AI/HPC deployments
- Power distribution systems
- Liquid cooling technologies
- Data center redundancy models
- Experience supporting fast-track or large-scale infrastructure deployments
Preferred Technical Skills
- AutoCAD
- Revit / BIM
- One-line diagram development
- Thermal and power modeling
- AI/GPU infrastructure design
- Utility coordination and power planning
- Commissioning and startup procedures
- Modular or prefabricated data center design
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a true design-build infrastructure expert who has personally engineered and delivered hyperscale environments.
This person should be capable of:
- Designing systems directly
- Producing technical drawings and specifications independently
- Managing field execution
- Solving engineering challenges in real time
- Driving projects from concept through operational deployment
The successful candidate will combine executive-level accountability with real-world engineering and construction capability.
