The full-time schedule is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Occasionally there may be pre-planned events in the evenings as well as college tours in and out of state. Note the department is located on the Big Cypress Reservation at 31000 Josie Billie Hwy, Clewiston, FL 33440. We provide a fuel stipend if you live more than 40 miles away from the office. There is some day travel to other Reservations as needed in Hollywood, Immokalee, and Okeechobee however you would borrow a departmental car and it would be factored into your work schedule.
Position Summary
The incumbent is this position is responsible for providing academic advisement for prospective, current, and former students within a specified Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Education Program. The individual assesses academic levels and responds to students’ academic inquiries. Assists in the resolution of individual academic problems and advises on academic program changes. The incumbent analyzes applications, transfers evaluation requests and transcripts for the admission or discharge of an educational program, as well as assists those who seek to obtain the General Education Diploma (GED). Develops and maintains appropriate files and records.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of six (6) months of experience working as an education advisor, academic counselor ore related field is required. Certification as a Professional Educator is preferred. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel to all reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

A few times a year there may be community events in the evenings as well as overnight college tours in and out of state. As needed you would drive out to support other Reservations which includes going to Clewiston, Immokalee, and Okeechobee.
