Surgical Dental Assistant – Full-Time

Featherstone Periodontics & Implant Dentistry is looking for a full-time Surgical Dental Assistant to join our busy Rockford practice. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in being dependable, enjoys learning, and wants to grow beyond traditional dental assisting into advanced periodontal and surgical care.
Reliability is extremely important in this role. Our patients, doctors, and clinical team depend on every team member to arrive on time, maintain consistent attendance, and be prepared to support a full surgical schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Assist doctors during surgical procedures
- Monitor and support patients throughout surgery
- Prepare patient charts before appointments
- Capture diagnostic records, including digital X-rays and photographs
- Enter treatment plans and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Prepare surgical rooms, instruments, equipment, and materials
- Sterilize instruments and disinfect treatment rooms
- Stock clinical rooms and maintain supplies
- Provide compassionate preoperative and postoperative patient care
- Help wherever needed to keep the clinical schedule running smoothly

Experience
At least one year of dental assisting experience is required; two or more years is preferred. Experience in periodontics, oral surgery, implant dentistry, or sedation is a plus, but we are willing to train a motivated dental assistant who has a strong clinical foundation and a desire to learn.
Schedule
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday: 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Compensation
$21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
