Position Summary
Northwest Rheumatology Associates is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Clinical Assistant to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care while supporting physicians and the clinical team in a fast-paced outpatient rheumatology practice. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, patient-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Essential Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Room patients and prepare them for their appointments by obtaining and documenting height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Perform medication reconciliation at each patient visit.
- Update patient medical, surgical, social, and family history in the EMR.
- Administer subcutaneous injections as directed by the provider and provide patient education regarding medication administration and follow-up care.
- Assist physicians with in-office procedures, including steroid injections and basic wound care.
- Communicate provider instructions, laboratory results, and treatment recommendations to patients by telephone or through the patient portal.
- Process prescription refill requests according to provider instructions and clinic protocols.
Clinical Operations
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, medical equipment, and vital sign equipment between every patient in accordance with infection prevention standards.
- Restock examination rooms and clinical supplies throughout the day.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions, hand hygiene standards, and all infection prevention policies.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
Administrative Duties
- Retrieve and respond to voicemail messages promptly.
- Perform general administrative duties including scanning, faxing, and electronic document management.
- Assist with additional clinical and administrative tasks as assigned to support efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.
- Previous experience in a medical clinic or outpatient healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
