Job Description: Head Cook
Basic Function(s): The head cook shall organize and implement a successful cafeteria program, demonstrating a
Christian and enthusiastic attitude.
Accountability: Responsible to the Principal and/or the Hot Lunch Committee.
Relationships: Works with: Cafeteria staff, teachers, Hot Lunch Committee of the Board of Directors.
Qualifications: The head cook shall be able to meet state requirements.
Duties:
1. Plan menus that meet the food service requirements of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program as part of the School Food Authority
2. Supervise the food service personnel and work schedules
3. Purchase food and supplies as needed for the school kitchen
4. Maintain an inventory of all supplies, food items, and equipment
5. Control the cost of food and supplies
6. Establish and maintain sanitation standards
7. Maintain good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and community
8. Understand and practice good nutrition in the preparation and service of food
9. Assist with hiring substitute cooks as needed
10. Keep informed of new developments on methods and equipment that will improve and upgrade our lunch program
11. Perform any task needed to ensure a successful lunch program
12. Make sure kitchen staff meet all state requirements
13. Recruit and recommend hot lunch workers(helpers)
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $41,000.00 per year
