Position Summary:
The Server at Veterans Cafe & Museum provides excellent customer service, taking orders, serving food, and creating a welcoming environment for veterans and patrons. This role supports the cafe's mission of reintegration by interacting with veterans and providing a comfortable, friendly experience. The ideal candidate is respectful, customer-focused, and efficient, upholding the values of the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable.
- Accurately take food and drink orders and communicate any special requests to the kitchen staff.
- Serve meals in a timely manner, following up to ensure guests are satisfied.
- Handle payments, process transactions, and make accurate change.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, tables, and workstations.
- Assist in restocking supplies, utensils, and other essentials as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including food handling, storage, and sanitation.
- Engage with patrons respectfully, especially veterans, and assist with any special needs or accommodations.
- Participate in team meetings and training to stay updated on cafe policies, menu changes, and customer service expectations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in food service or as a server preferred, but not required.
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on providing respectful and attentive service.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, including veterans involved in reintegration programs.
- Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and proactive in helping ensure a positive dining experience.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, carry trays, and handle the physical demands of a busy cafe environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with POS systems for handling payments.
- Understanding of military and veteran culture is a plus.
Monday-Saturday 8am-2pm
