Based in Park Slope, Brooklyn, we are the neighborhood authority on premium family electric cargo bikes, focusing on expert retail sales and top-tier service. We match families with great cargo bike solutions (Urban Arrow, Aventon, Bunch Bike and other brands coming soon) and keep them rolling safely for miles to come.
We're looking for a skilled, detail-oriented mechanic to join our service team and keep Brooklyn's family fleet on the road.
The Role
As a E-Cargo Bike Mechanic, you're the reason a family's daily ride just works. These bikes are how our customers get kids to school and groceries home, so downtime matters. You'll handle everything from new bike builds and safety checks to e-system diagnostics and full tune-ups, and you'll talk to customers like a helpful neighbor, not a service counter.

Key Responsibilities
- Service & Repair: Perform tune-ups, brake and drivetrain work, wheel truing, and general repairs on electric cargo bikes (long-tails and front-loaders).
- E-System Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve issues on Bosch and Shimano STEPS systems, including firmware updates, error codes, and battery health checks.
- New Bike Builds: Assemble, tune, and safety-check new inventory from Urban Arrow, Aventon, and Bunch to showroom-ready standard.
- Customer Communication: Explain repairs and maintenance clearly and without jargon, and help families understand how to care for their bikes.
- Shop Operations: Keep the service area organized, track parts, and log work orders accurately in our systems.
Who You Are
- A Skilled Wrench: You have professional bike shop service experience and you're confident working on heavy, high-value electric cargo bikes.
- E-Bike Fluent: You hold current Bosch eBike Systems and Shimano STEPS certifications and stay on top of diagnostic tools and updates.
- Brand Familiar: You've worked on (or know your way around) Urban Arrow, Aventon, and Bunch bikes.
- Detail-Obsessed: Families trust these bikes with their kids. Your safety checks are thorough, every time.
- A Good Neighbor: You're patient and warm with customers, including ones who don't know a derailleur from a dropout.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional bicycle mechanic experience, with hands-on e-bike service work.
- Current Bosch eBike Systems certification and Shimano (STEPS) certification.
- Familiarity with Urban Arrow, Aventon, and Bunch cargo bikes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and confidently maneuver large, heavy bicycles.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable managing a service queue independently.
