Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting during various procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques
- Monitor patient vital signs throughout appointments to ensure safety during treatments
- Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system Dentrix
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control procedures
- Experience with dental office software Dentrix preferred
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in general dentistry settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Prior experience in dental clinic or dental office environments is highly desirable
