REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Electrical – Through knowledge of electrical systems, fixtures and equipment. Through knowledge
of procedures, methods and techniques to design, install, repair and maintain a variety of electrical
systems. Knowledge of National Electrical Codes.
- Equipment Operation – Thorough knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting
and maintaining tools and related equipment as needed to construct and maintain properties and
equipment. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the operation of equipment and
materials.
- Safety - Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to
equipment operation, hazardous materials, traffic patterns and conditions, and other work related
precautions.

- Interpersonal Relationships/Customer Service – Develops and maintains cooperative and
professional relationships with employees, representatives from other departments and
organizations, and the public.
- Judgement/Decision Making –Uses logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate
situations and exercise good judgment to make appropriate decisions.
REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Time Management - Plans and organizes daily work routine. Estimates expected time of
completion of elements of work and establishes a personal schedule accordingly. Implements work
activities in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
- Computer Skills – Ability to utilize personal computer applications to include database
administration, work processing, spreadsheet, and related software.
- Communication – Ability to communicate ideas effectively, including the preparation of reports
and logs. Ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented verbally and
in writing. Ability to handle a variety of customer service issues with tact and diplomacy and in a
confidential manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Electrician Assistant – Requires a high school diploma with either current enrollment as an Electrical
Apprentice in a certified apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience necessary to develop the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
Electrician Technician – Requires a high school diploma and two years working as an electrician’s
assistant or two years of participation in a certified electrician apprentice program, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Electrician – Requires a high school diploma and four years of experience in the servicing, maintenance
and repair of electrical systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Must possess and maintain an Electrician Journeyman Card or be eligible to obtain within
upon hire.
