About the Opportunity:
Allied Staff Augmentation Partners (ASAP) is seeking an experienced Process Mechanical Estimator on behalf of a leading engineering and construction organization supporting large-scale industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and life sciences capital projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for an estimator with experience in process mechanical systems, HVAC, piping, and industrial construction who enjoys developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project risks, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project proposals.
Please Note: This position is intended for candidates with professional mechanical construction estimating experience. Candidates whose backgrounds are focused solely on mechanical engineering, project management, facilities maintenance, or general contracting without estimating responsibilities are not likely to meet the requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate mechanical construction cost estimates from conceptual design through final bid.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and other project documents.
- Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Analyze project scope, identify estimating risks, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Review subcontractor and vendor quotations for completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Support bid evaluations, proposal preparation, and estimate reviews.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams throughout the estimating process.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Provide estimating support throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience supporting industrial or process facility projects.
- Experience estimating HVAC systems, process piping, plumbing, and industrial mechanical systems.
- Strong experience preparing quantity takeoffs, labor and material estimates, and detailed construction cost estimates.
- Experience performing bid evaluations, subcontractor/vendor quote analysis, and competitive proposal preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience using Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, RSMeans (preferred), and other estimating software.
- Familiarity with MCAA and/or SMACNA standards is preferred.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, food & beverage, life sciences, advanced technology, or other industrial facilities is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to Indianapolis approximately once per quarter.
Pay: $48.00 - $57.69 per hour
