Overview
We are ramping up for the busy fall and holiday season and so we’re seeking a few strong part-time bartenders to join our bar team in the Tiki Lounge at the China Palace! This role is ideal for people that are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment and you MUST be willing to cross-train as an expo in the kitchen as well as being a server in the dining room. Candidates must enjoy interacting with a diverse set of customers and working seamlessly with other great teammates.
We Are Looking For:
- Prior bartending experience in a high volume restaurant/bar is required.
- People with strong customer service skills combined with effective interaction skills that would contribute to a positive guest experience.
- Have a “Get-It-Done” mindset and a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor.
- Besides designated shifts have the capability to fill in on weekdays and weekends as needed
- Be willing to work a FLEXIBLE schedule for now.
- Timeliness, taking ownership, teamwork, and being responsible are a mandatory MUST!
- Must be able to work holidays (Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s Eve and Day)
Job Summary:
The Bartender will be responsible to prepare, serve and be able to mix and match ingredients in order to create Polynesian cocktails as well as classic and innovative drinks according to house guidelines. The primary purpose of the Bartender is to provide friendly, attentive and timely service to create an exceptional experience for all of our guests.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving beverages to guests and servers in a friendly and efficient manner
- Take food and beverage orders from guests
- Accept guest payments and process credit card charges
- Use POS systems for transactions
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes with prudent judgement per State of NH laws
- Cut and skewer fruit for garnishing drinks
- Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies
- Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift
- Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including floors, counters, sinks, utensils, and shelves
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
- Any other essential duties to be required for the lounge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of serving techniques, standard cocktails and fine wines
- Excellent knowledge of beer, wine, liquor and common drink recipes
- Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks
- Possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Handle a fast-paced work environment
- Outstanding guest services skills
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively (verbal & written)
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Possess basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system and register
- Professional presentation and positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to traverse all parts of the Tiki Lounge quickly
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. In some instances, the entire shift
- Ability to lift at least but not limited to 50 pounds and if more must be with assistance
- Flexibility in the wrist to scoop, twist, push, pull, lift, and bend
- Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print)
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects)
- Ability to move quickly turning from left to right or right to left and to hustle
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Ability to be mobile in walk-in refrigerator and freezer with temperatures ranging from 40° F to -10° F
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Minimum 2 years food and beverage service and/or related food and beverage experience
Pay: $22.80 - $27.46 per hour
