HYDRAULIC / FLUID POWER TECHNICIAN

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking an experienced Hydraulic / Fluid Power Technician to join a busy industrial service and repair operation. This position will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, assembling, and testing a variety of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including pumps, motors, power units, and related components.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, good troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems using schematics, testing equipment, and mechanical knowledge.
- Inspect pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, power units, and other hydraulic components for wear, damage, or failure.
- Determine whether components can be repaired, rebuilt, or need to be replaced.
- Identify the cause of equipment failures and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Prepare service documentation detailing inspections, repairs, and testing performed.
- Pull and organize the necessary parts and materials needed for repairs.
- Disassemble, repair, rebuild, and assemble hydraulic and pneumatic equipment according to specifications.
- Perform testing on repaired equipment to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Make necessary adjustments to components and equipment during the repair process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Assist less-experienced technicians with troubleshooting, repairs, and training as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree, certificate, or formal training in hydraulics, fluid power, mechanical systems, or a related field is preferred.
- 1–3 years of hydraulic, fluid power, mechanical repair, or related service experience required.
- Candidates with 3–5+ years of relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of basic mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
- Comfortable using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to continue learning and developing technical skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and move equipment and components weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Position requires standing and working on your feet for the majority of the workday.
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and handling of mechanical components may be required.
- Ability to safely perform hands-on repair and assembly work in a shop environment.
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
