Overview

In this paid position, you will collaborate closely with teachers, special education professionals, and families to support the academic, social, and behavioral development of children across various age groups. Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive, structured environment conducive to learning and behavior management for all students.
- Provide physical assistance and behavioral support to students requiring additional help with daily activities, including mobility and classroom routines.
- Use effective communication skills, including American Sign Language when applicable, to facilitate understanding and interaction among students with communication challenges.
- Support interdisciplinary instruction through hands-on activities and early childhood education techniques aligned with the Creative Curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress, adapt instructional strategies, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Assist in classroom setup, organization, and maintaining a safe environment that promotes learning for children of various ages and early childhood learning styles.
Skills
- Experience working with children in classroom or childcare settings, especially in special education or private school environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and classroom management strategies.
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques tailored for students with behavioral disorders or autism spectrum disorders.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with admin, educators, therapists, families, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while supporting students’ educational needs.
- Basic interdisciplinary early childhood education experience to assist in instructional activities.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs is highly preferred.

Pay: $37,471.00 - $41,248.00 per year
